Traffic was backed up for a mile in both directions on I-5 at 10 this morning as the outlet mall at Quil Ceda Village opened.
Thousands of people were there as the doors opened as shoppers searched for bargains.
One woman said she’d been there since 4:30 a.m. About 500 people were there at the opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. to see tribal dancers and singers. Tulalip leaders in speeches made a plea for the tribe to be able to keep a portion of the sales tax, an issue that was before the state Legislature this year.
Free food was available, and it was a frenzy in many of the stores. In the Coach Factory, for example, about 200 women were scrambling for deals in the handbag section.
