MARYSVILLE – A man and woman led police on a chase across Marysville this morning that ended when they tried to drive on railroad tracks.
The Everett man, 23, and the woman, 25, of Marysville, were found by a police dog hiding in brush along Quil Ceda Creek, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
A state trooper spotted a pickup truck driving nearly 80 mph along I-5 north near Everett, Leary said. The man driving the pickup didn’t stop when the trooper tried to pull him over.
Instead, the man sped north, pulling off briefly at Fourth Street in Marysville, then jumping back on the freeway before exiting again at 88th Street, Leary said.
The pursuit continued north. At 116th Street, the driver pulled onto the railroad tracks but didn’t get far.
The truck slipped off the tracks and got stuck on the embankment, Leary said.
A police dog was called to track down the driver and his passenger.
The truck was stolen from Marysville, Leary said.
Both people were arrested on warrants. They likely will face additional charges for possession of stolen property, reckless driving and eluding.
