MARYSVILLE — A series of community forums begins Tuesday with a focus on illegal drugs.
People can learn how to recognize and report illegal drug use at a forum set for 7 p.m. in the Marysville Pilchuck High School auditorium.
The program is sponsored by the city of Marysville and the Marysville Community Coalition.
Andrea Kingsford, recreation coordinator with the city parks department and the chairman of the community coalition, hopes for a good turnout at the forum.
Parents of all ages, educators and business leaders are especially encouraged to attend.
“People will really benefit from this,” Kingsford said. “We are excited to offer the forum series.”
At Tuesday’s meeting, Marysville Police Chief Rick Smith plans to talk about the historical trends in drug use in Marysville, the social challenges that law enforcement faces, how to recognize illegal activity and how to prevent it.
Included will be tips on how adults can promote better self-esteem among teenagers, Kingsford said.
The community forum series continues on Nov. 15 when the police department plans to present a program on how people in Marysville can have a safe and crime-free holiday season.
Marysville Pilchuck High School is located at 5611 108th St. NE.
Forums in the new year are not yet scheduled, Kingsford said.
