PORT ORCHARD — Part of Highway 16 in Kitsap County will be renamed to honor a Washington State Trooper who was killed during a traffic stop in 2012.
KING-TV reported that the Washington State Transportation Commission will approve turning 10 miles of the highway into a memorial for Trooper Tony Radulescu.
Radulescu died February 23, 2012, while on patrol. During a traffic stop at mile marker 28 in Gorst, the driver of a pickup truck he had pulled over shot and killed him.
Kitsap County, Washington State Patrol and Radulescu’s family have already approved the highway memorial.
A formal dedication is planned for Feb. 23.
