BELLINGHAM — The Whatcom County sheriff’s office is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a creek near the Nooksack River in the Mount Baker area.
Undersheriff Jeff Parks says she was with a group of people partying and drinking Monday evening in an area off the Mount Baker highway. He says she went off alone to relieve herself and didn’t come back.
She was found in the water and could not be revived. Parks says it appears to be an accidental drowning.
The woman’s name has not been released but she reportedly was from the Maple Falls area.
