EVERETT — Kelvin Boston, the host of an award-winning PBS financial literacy series, will bring his financial readiness seminar, “Moneywise in the Military,” to Naval Station Everett next week.
The idea is to boost the financial awareness of military personnel.
The “financial readiness” of military personnel at home is considered an important part of keeping sailors ready for their jobs at sea, said David DuBois, deputy manager of family support programs for the Navy.
“Moneywise with Kelvin Boston” is PBS’ longest running series that addresses the financial knowledge middle- and lower-income people should have, DuBois said.
The seminar series will be tailored to meet the concerns of military families with particular attention to spouses, who are often the money manager in military families.
The programs are open to personnel from all service branches.
The seminar at Naval Station Everett is set for 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 25.
Other seminars are scheduled on Tuesday in Kitsap County. One will be held at the Bangor Cinema Plus Theater from 9 to 11 a.m. Also on Tuesday, a seminar is set for 1 to 3 p.m. in the gymnasium at the naval base in Bremerton.
