Pedestrian dies after she is struck on Highway 99 sidewalk

EVERETT — A woman was killed tonight after she was struck by a pickup on Highway 99 around 9:30 p.m.

The woman, who appears to be in her 20s, was on the sidewalk on the 13600 block of the east side of the highway, officials said.

The woman was dead when firefighters got to the scene. Her hometown was not immediately available.

The truck appears to also have hit some fence posts and a light post. The light post was on top of the truck when crews arrived.

The crash occurred near Lincoln Way in south Everett, just south of the interchange with Highway 525.

Snohomish County Fire District 1, Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol are at the scene. The northbound lanes of the highway are closed as of 10 p.m.

No other injuries were reported.
