EVERETT — A 71-year-old man was killed Wednesday afternoon after he was struck by a car on Highway 99, south of Everett.
The Everett man’s identity was not immediately available pending notification of his next of kin.
The accident was reported just before 4:30 p.m. north of Lincoln Way, said trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol.
Witnesses told troopers the man was trying to cross the highway as traffic approached but tripped and fell in the roadway. He was struck by an Everett man, 30, driving a Honda Accord. The Everett driver tried to avoid the pedestrian in the roadway and was very shaken, Leary said.
