Students at Garfield Elementary School in Everett collected pennies this fall to help purchase toys and gifts for the Starbucks Holiday Angels Joy Drive, benefiting Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation of Washington.
At a recent school assembly, students learned that the money they collected purchased 200 toys for seriously ill children and families in need.
With last year’s penny drive included, Garfield students have raised more than $1,750 for the foundation. Starbucks plans to serve hot chocolate to all the students on Jan. 4.
