YELM — A Pierce County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man during a traffic stop early Friday east of Yelm.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said the deputy had pulled the man over and was calling in license information when the man came out of his car with a gun saying, “This ends here.”
The deputy fired and was not injured. The 50-year-old driver died.
It happened about 12:30 a.m. on Highway 702 near McKenna.
