MISSOULA, Mont. — The Montana Highway Patrol says a Montana man driving the wrong way on Interstate 90 near Missoula died Sunday when his pickup crashed head-on into a vehicle containing a family of four from Washington state, killing an 8-year-old boy.
Trooper Drew Novak told the Missoulian that the crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. east of Missoula. He said the 33-year old man driving west in the eastbound lanes may have been driving drunk. He was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene.
Novak said a 37-year-old man in the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and has been flown to a hospital in Seattle.
The man’s 29-year-old wife and 5-year-old son are in stable condition at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
Novak says the Washington state family was on vacation.
