VANCOUVER, Wash. — A toddler is in critical condition after authorities say he was severely beaten by a man at a Vancouver motel.
Clark County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Fred Neiman told KOIN the boy was injured by a man at the Sunnyside Motel around 9 p.m. Tuesday. The child’s relationship to the man was unknown.
Arriving deputies found the man kicking the 2-year-old child. Neiman says a resident at the hotel tried to intervene using a baseball bat. Deputies used a Taser to subdue the suspect.
The injured boy was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where he was listed in critical condition. The suspect was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He faces assault charges.
No charges were expected for the resident who used the baseball bat on the suspect.
