COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Coeur d’Alene police have arrested a man they say kidnapped a woman at gunpoint and held her prisoner for several hours.
Police said Sunday they arrested Douglas Standish at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Marina.
The 49-year-old Standish was wanted on a warrant for first-degree kidnapping after the incident Nov. 4 involving a former girlfriend.
She told authorities she escaped when he allowed her to leave a vehicle.
A week on the lam, Standish had apparently taken refuge Sunday in a boat at the marina after an evening in which he’d jumped into the frigid waters of Coeur d’Alene Lake to avoid resort security guards.
A boat owner said he discovered a Standish on his 34-foot craft Sunday morning.
Shortly thereafter, police searching for Standish took him into custody without incident.
