SEQUIM — A man in Sequim has been arrested after allegedly brandishing a shotgun during a standoff with deputies.
The Peninsula Daily News reported Jonathan Sweeney was arrested Monday morning after barricading himself in his home for about 45 minutes.
Deputies initially went to the home Sunday on a report that Sweeney had assaulted his uncle. He wasn’t home at the time so deputies went back Monday morning. After deputies entered looking for Sweeney and to check on a grandparent in the home, they say Sweeney jumped out of a doorway with a shotgun, saying he would “blast” deputies if they didn’t leave.
Authorities say they backed off and began communicating with Sweeney. He insisted on medical attention for his grandfather and reportedly surrendered when he saw an ambulance outside.
