LYNNWOOD — Burglars tied two people up in their Lynnwood home Wednesday night before taking cash and personal belongings, according to police.
Around 9:40 p.m., two people — wearing ski masks and gloves — shattered the glass back door of a home in the 16800 block of 55th Place West, Lynnwood police spokesperson Joanna Small wrote.
“Detectives believe the suspects expected to find the home unoccupied at that time,” Small wrote, “and were surprised to discover two people inside.”
The burglars reportedly tied up the two people and took electronics, cash and jewelry. The masked people did not brandish any weapons, the victims reported. As of Thursday, it was unclear what was used to tie the victims up, Small said, but it was something found in their home.
Nobody was seriously injured.
Detectives were investigating “several” other recent burglaries in the area at houses during times when nobody was home, Small wrote. Similar items were reportedly taken in those break-ins.
Police advised people to avoid keeping large amounts of cash inside their homes.
Detectives asked for public help to identify the burglars. Anyone who lives near 55th Place West is asked to provide law enforcement with home security footage from Wednesday night that may have captured an unfamiliar dark-colored sedan.
