Police on Monday continued to investigate unrelated slayings in Lynnwood, Edmonds and Machias.
In the Machias case, the Snohomish County Examiner confirmed Monday that the remains found near the Pilchuck River are those of Kelly Jean Sarsten.
Sarsten, 37, was reported missing Aug. 19. Detectives found her body a day later near her Machias home.
No one has been arrested in connection with the murder.
In Edmonds, police continued to search for two men suspected of fatally shooting two others at an Edmonds apartment complex Wednesday.
Police confirmed Monday that one of the men is Fucundo Romero-Arredondo. He uses the nickname Pancho.
The second suspect was identified as Carlos Chavez, but police do not know if that is his real name.
The shootings happened at the Village Apartments at 8201 Lake Ballinger Way. Adan Ernandez, 23, died at the scene.
Nolberto Lopez-Rodriguez, 36, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Romero’s foot or lower leg was likely injured during the gunfire, police said.
It’s still unclear how many guns were used or if the victims fired back, Edmonds Assistant Police Chief Al Compaan said.
Near Lynnwood, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office detectives continued to investigate a fatal shooting at a Martha Lake apartment.
The shooting happened early Saturday after an argument at Millwood Estates, 508 164th Street SW, witnesses said.
A 28-year-old man died of a gunshot wound at the scene, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The man’s name was not released Monday.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man in his early 20s at the apartment complex Saturday.
He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgesen said.
The man posted bail Saturday, she said.
