Police continue to investigate man’s death in storage unit fire

EVERETT — Officials have identified a man found dead Saturday after a fire at an Everett storage unit.

Matthew J. Paulsene, 31, of Lynnwood, died from smoke inhalation, officials said Tuesday. His death has been ruled an accident.

Firefighters were called about 7 a.m. Saturday to a blaze at the storage company in the 3800 block of Smith Avenue.

Police and fire investigators continue to work the case and to collect evidence, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. At this point, there is no indication of arson.

Police believe the man was living in the storage unit.
