EVERETT — Collision investigation detectives are getting a better idea of what type of vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian early last Sunday on Highway 529.
Detectives believe it was a dark gray, early 2000s model Chrysler or Dodge, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. The vehicle sustained damage to the right front headlight assembly, he said.
James Martin Mahood, 53, was found around 3:30 a.m. by someone driving near Union Slough along the southbound lanes of Highway 529, officials said.
The Everett man died at the scene.
Police don’t know which direction Mahood was walking when he was hit. It also isn’t known how much time elapsed between when he was struck and when he was found, Snell said.
Mahood died of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner. His manner of death was described as an accident.
The stretch of roadway connects Everett and Marysville. Conditions were described as foggy in that area during the hours when Mahood likely was struck.
Everett police are asking anyone who has information about the crash to call 911.
