A man already behind bars is under investigation for robbing banks in Snohomish County.
Police suspect the man of robbing the Washington Mutual Bank in Mukilteo in December and the Marysville branch of Horizon Bank in June, according to documents filed in Everett District Court.
Mukilteo police tracked him down by sending out photos taken by security cameras during the robberies.
An Anacortes police officer recognized the robber as a man who was locked up in the Skagit County Jail after being convicted of theft, possessing stolen property and other charges.
The man was not in jail when the robberies occurred, according to the court documents.
Employees at the two banks identified the suspect as the robber, documents said. The man was taken into custody by the state Department of Corrections last week.
The robber was a white man with black, slicked-back hair. He wore a black leather jacket and sunglasses during both robberies. He robbed the Washington Mutual Bank in Mukilteo Dec. 28 by passing a threatening note to a teller.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call Mukilteo police detective Lance Smith at 425-353-8222.
