SPOKANE — Spokane police fired shots at a man they believed was trying to rob a Chinese restaurant, but did not hit him.
The Spokesman Review reported that the owners of Peking North on North Division Street called the police early Monday to report an attempted robbery.
Police say the man was holding a realistic-looking fake gun. Officers ordered him to put it down but he refused. Officers fired, but they didn’t hit the man.
They also tried to stop him with a Taser and eventually took him into custody following a fight in the alley beside the restaurant.
Police didn’t release the man’s name, but said he has an extensive criminal background, including car theft and fights with officers.
