EVERETT – Few clues have turned up in the investigation of a double homicide inside a south Everett house that hid a sophisticated marijuana growing operation, police said Thursday.
“We anticipate the investigation taking quite a bit of time,” Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. “There’s been little progress.”
Kevin Meas, 23, was found dead Monday night inside the basement of a house in the 600 block of Dexter Avenue. Linda Nguyen, 20, was pronounced dead at Providence Everett Medical Center.
Police said Meas and Nguyen were shot inside the house.
The Snohomish County medical examiner on Thursday classified the deaths as homicides.
No arrests have been made.
Investigators believe Meas and Nguyen lived in the house, although it is not clear what their relationship to each other was.
Property records show that a Seattle couple purchased the property in September.
Detectives with the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force removed about 400 marijuana plants from the basement of the house Tuesday.
Later, investigators were tipped off to another growing operation at a house about a half-mile away in the 200 block of E. Beech Street.
There, police found 600 marijuana plants.
That house is owned by a different man and woman. They, too, bought the property in September.
Police have declined to say whether they’ve found a connection between the two growing operations.
“We’re focusing on the homicides,” Goetz said. “If it leads us to larger-scale criminal activity, obviously we’ll need to coordinate with other agencies.”
Anyone with information about the deaths is asked to call the Everett police tip line at 425-257-8450.
