SNOHOMISH — Police today named Robert James Scott as the main suspect in a shooting early Wednesday near Snohomish that sent a man to the hospital with a gunshot wound in the groin.
Detectives believe Scott, 36, was upset that the shooting victim owed him a drug debt and also hadn’t returned a set of stolen Lexus tire rims, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The victim, a Snohomish man, 30, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition.
Scott reportedly had confronted the victim days before the shooting and threatened to “take care of him” if he didn’t pay the debt and return the tire rims, police said.
Witnesses told police that the gunman had a “Dirty Harry”-style handgun. That’s a .44-caliber revolver. They also said Scott was joined in the attack by three or four masked men who reportedly had large, “Rambo”-style combat knives.
One of the masked suspects stabbed another man but caused minor wounds, Hover said. The stabbing victim declined hospitalization.
No arrests have been made.
Scott, a convicted felon, is described as 5-foot, 9-inches tall, weighing about 210 pounds. He is known to hang out in parts of central and southern Snohomish County.
