MONROE — Police are investigating a crash late Friday in Monroe that sent a Snohomish man to a Seattle hospital with serious injuries.
The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 2 and E. Main Street. That’s one of the deadliest intersections along U.S. 2 through Snohomish County, records show.
The Snohomish man, 52, was headed north on Main Street across U.S. 2, said Debbie Willis, a Monroe police spokeswoman. A pickup truck with two passengers was headed east on U.S. 2 when the collision occurred.
The Snohomish man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Willis said.
He was listed in serious condition Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
One passenger in the truck was treated and released from Valley General Hospital in Monroe.
Witnesses told police they saw the man who was hurt run a red light, Willis said. Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
No arrests have been made.
There have been four fatal collisions at the intersection where Friday night’s accident occurred, according to Washington State Transportation Department data.
U.S. 2 was closed for several hours early Saturday morning for an investigation.
