Everett police were searching late Monday for a 64-year-old man and his two young grandsons, last seen leaving for a school bus stop after 11 a.m.
Neither Viktor Gidenko nor the two boys – Larry Karabut, 5, and Jim Karabut, 3 – can speak English. The Russian man has only been in the area for a month since moving from Colorado.
There is no reason to suspect foul play, Lt. Bob Johns said.
It is more likely that Gidenko got lost after leaving his apartment in the Covington Farms complex, 10115 Holly Drive.
The bus stop is 2 miles north. The boy’s school, Lowell Elementary, is another 21/2 miles northeast.
Police were seeking Gidenko’s 1997 white Nissan Quest minivan with Colorado license plates, 221 LNK.
It was the first time the grandfather attempted to take his grandson to the bus stop. The boys’ mother dropped them off earlier in the morning because she had to work.
