EVERETT — Police defused a potentially violent situation earlier this week when they stopped a troubled man, who was carrying weapons, from harming himself.
Police on Tuesday went to the 7000 block of Colby Avenue about 9:30 p.m. after getting reports of a domestic dispute, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
When officers arrived they saw a man on the front lawn. He apparently dropped a knife and ran into a garage, Goetz said. The man had not hurt anyone.
Police began talking to the man, 42, of Everett. At points, he came out of the garage carrying weapons — another knife, a baseball bat, a screwdriver — and threatened to hurt himself, Goetz said.
He also began taking off clothes. He was naked by 10:13 p.m. Police subdued him with a jolt from a stun gun, Goetz said.
Police took him to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett’s Colby Campus for mental health evaluation, Goetz said.
