Police put bite on gas station heist suspect

EVERETT — Two men, one brandishing a shotgun, held up a service station in the 1000 block of S.E. Everett Mall Way about 11 p.m. Thursday.

Police have one man in custody and are looking for a second, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said.

The 21-year-old suspect was treated for lacerations at a local hospital from a confrontation with Yasko, an Everett police dog.

Yasko tracked the suspect south from the store. The dog led officers to 100th Street SE, through an apartment complex and up the Interurban Trail, Bryant said. Then the dog reversed its route and entered a commercial dumpster, where the 21-year-old man was found, Bryant said.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of robbery.

Meeting today: Everett’s Public Facilities District Board meets in a special session at 8 a.m. today in the district offices, Suite 205, 2825 Colby Ave.

Board members will discuss the design proposal for the city’s proposed hockey arena and special events center.

Victim remains in hospital: A man who suffered a critical head injury and was dropped off at an Everett fire station Monday remains in serious condition.

The 35-year-old Kirkland man was on a respirator and under sedation in the neuro-trauma unit at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, spokeswoman Susan Gregg-Hanson said.

Police are still trying to determine how and where the man was injured. They only learned his identity after they tracked down the owner of a cell phone the victim carried. His name has not been released.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the case to call the police tip line at 425-257-8450.

Items recovered: Police have recovered items stolen from an antique store in the 100 block of Union Avenue and arrested a 15-year-old boy.

About 11 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of a burglary in progress, Snohomish police Sgt. Corey Cook said. The caller reported that two subjects broke out a window of the business and ran off with stolen items.
