EVERETT – Police are looking for a man who they believe raped a 16-year-old girl in a parking lot in south Everett last month, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The girl told investigators the attack happened July 4 after she got off work in the 500 block of 112th Street SW. The girl was opening her car door when a man grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth and raped her in the parking lot, sheriff’s spokesman Rich Niebusch said.
Afterward, the man walked away, Niebusch said.
Detectives believe the girl didn’t immediately report the attack because she was traumatized, Niebusch said.
The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s.
He has brown eyes, black hair tied in corn rows and a cleft chin. He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt with a zipper from the collar to the chest, a white tank top, blue jeans, black tennis shoes with a white stripe and a necklace that looked like a dog collar.
Investigators don’t believe the man is a suspect in any other unsolved sexual assault case, Niebusch said.
“We’re seeking the public’s assistance in identifying him,” Niebusch said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office at 425-388-3845.
