Granite Falls: Man dies from accident injuries
A motorcyclist who crashed into a stump earlier this week has died.
Steven Holte, 61, died of blunt-force injuries to his head and body Tuesday, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Holte reportedly was westbound on E. Engebretsen Road on Monday when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. He lost control of his motorcycle, veered off the road and slammed into a stump, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
Holte was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died Tuesday night, Hover said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Snohomish: Crashed dump truck burns
A thick column of smoke could be seen for miles Wednesday after a crashed dump truck caught fire on Springhetti Road.
Firefighters found the dump truck on its side and engulfed in flames. The driver was gone, and witnesses reported that he’d hitched a ride with a passing vehicle, said Ron Simmons, deputy chief for Snohomish County Fire District 4.
The dump truck was loaded with dirt, and it appeared that the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The truck went down a small embankment, rolled and landed about 20 feet from a garage.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies spoke with the owner of the truck, who was assisting in the investigation and locating the driver, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
It wasn’t clear if the driver was injured in the crash.
