EVERETT – Police are on the lookout for a man with a speech impediment and missing tooth who robbed a downtown bank Monday.
The man walked into Wells Fargo, 2801 Wetmore Ave., about 10:40 a.m. and demanded cash from a teller. Witnesses didn’t see a weapon, and the suspect didn’t say he had one. He left the bank, and police were unable to find him.
No one was injured in the heist.
The robber is described as a white man, early 50s, with a heavy build and about 6 feet 2 inches tall. He had a gray moustache and facial hair. He wore a gray or dark-colored vest, black sweatpants and multi-colored stocking cap. He has a missing tooth or gap in his front teeth and a speech impediment.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Everett Police Department tip line at 425-257-8450.
Lynnwood: Child alerts family to fire
A family was able to escape a fire in their apartment thanks to the screams of their 3-year-old child.
The fire started in a lamp in a fish tank just after midnight Monday in the 15400 block of 35th Avenue W., Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
The smoke alarm didn’t go off, likely because it was plugged into the same circuit as the lamp. The alarm didn’t have a battery backup, Hynes said.
The girl heard the crackling sound of the fire and screamed, waking her parents. The fire was contained to the apartment, but there is about $30,000 in smoke damage, Hynes said.
The Snohomish County chapter of the Red Cross was assisting the family, which didn’t have insurance, Hynes said.
