EVERETT — A holdup at a north Everett Wells Fargo last month may have been the work of a serial bank robber, according to Everett police. Investigators are calling him the “Hillbilly Bandit.”
On Friday, they issued a bulletin asking for help identifying the man. He may be linked to as many as five robberies in Western Washington. The spree started in June 2016 and has made stops in Snohomish, King and Pierce counties. The most recent one was May 9 at the Wells Fargo at 1801 Broadway. The other local robbery was April 4 in Lynnwood.

Everett’s robbery happened about 9:30 a.m., police officer Aaron Snell said. A man in a khaki Good Year hat handed a bank teller a note demanding money. She hesitated, and he left without any loot. No weapons were seen or implied. A police dog track was unsuccessful.
The man’s disguises have varied and included hooded sweatshirts, thick-rimmed glasses, plaid long-sleeve shirts, fake beards and ball caps and other kinds of hats.
He is described as white, in his 40s, and about 5-foot-8 and 200-plus pounds. He has brown hair and sometimes wears a mustache. The “Hillbilly” moniker is believed to have come from the outfits, Snell said.
Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 425-257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS. Callers can be anonymous.
