TYHEE, Idaho — Horse owners in southeast Idaho near Tyhee have reported five tail trimmings that occurred over the weekend.
The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office tells that the clippings happened on at least three different properties.
Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen says the motive isn’t clear because there isn’t a lot of value involved.
Horse owner Leslie England discovered chunks of hair missing from the tail of her race horse Cash.
She says Cash had a beautiful tail and he’s upset because he uses it to swat flies.
Veterinarian Christy Maddock says the tail will grow back but it could take months or even several years.
She says owners can get tail extensions for horses to appear in shows.
