EDMONDS — A Lynnwood woman was arrested on Sunday night after allegedly trying to lure a 4-year-old girl from a family event at the Edmonds Yacht Club.
Around 7:45 p.m., witnesses reported seeing the woman taking photos of the girl and other children on the patio and boardwalk on the west side of the building, according to a police report.
About an hour later, the woman, with an arm stretched out toward the girl, allegedly asked if she wanted to see her kitty cat. When that didn’t work, she told the girl a family member didn’t love her and she needed to leave with her, according to court papers. The girl shook her head and went back inside the yacht club with another girl.
The woman fled the scene when confronted by adults.
Shortly after, officers found the woman, 59, in a Dodge pickup truck nearby and booked her into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of luring a minor, according to an Edmonds Police Department news release.
The suspect reportedly was a stranger to the girl.
Everett District Court Judge Tam Bui set bail Monday afternoon at $150,000.
A man and a woman accompanied her in the vehicle, but were not arrested. Their involvement, police say, is still being investigated. The pickup reportedly was “driven off rapidly,” according to court papers.
The suspect would not answer detectives’ questions on Sunday, but officers found a camera in the car with photos that appeared to be of the child.
Authorities are now asking anyone who’s had similar interactions with a white 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 to reach out to their local police.
