The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County will be co-sponsoring and moderating several candidate forums in October.

The first will be 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at Olympic View Middle School, 2509 Mukilteo Speedway in Mukilteo. The eight Mukilteo City Council candidates have been invited.

Running for Position 4 are Eileen Hinds and Tony Tinsley; Position 5: Julie Irwin and Bruce Richter; Position 6: Bruce Brown and Donna Lansberry; Position 7: Dan Gray and Jennifer Gregerson.

The Marysville City Council and school board candidates will participate in a forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, 5611 108th St. NE.

The third forum is 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Granite Falls Community Center. It will feature the Granite Falls mayor and council candidates.

Voters who want to learn more about the Sno-Isle Regional Library System levy measure on the Nov. 4 ballot will have their chance at upcoming public meetings hosted by the library district:

  • 7 p.m. Mondayat the Lynnwood Public Library, 19200 44th Ave. W.

  • 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Edmonds Public Library, Frances Anderson Center, Room 206.

Voters will be asked to increase the district’s levy rate from 46 cents per $1,000 of assessed value to 50 cents per $1,000. That would mean an increase of about $12 a year for the owner of a $300,000 home.

If approved, the additional revenue would be used to retain open hours, sustain the 1.3 million-item library collection, and provide technology and online resources.

Three open houses have been planned for people to meet the six Mountlake Terrace City Council candidates.

Councilwoman Angela Amundson, who isn’t up for re-election this year, organized the open houses.

At the open houses, candidates will be seated at tables and available to the public for questions and comments.

A formal candidate forum sponsored by the Mountlake Terrace Seniors Group is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Mountlake Terrace Public Library. Jim Hills, publisher of the Enterprise Newspapers, will moderate.

The first open house will be

7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Cafe on the Terrace, 22826 56th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace.

The second will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at Terrace View Presbyterian Church, 4700 228th St. SW in Mountlake Terrace.
