John Lovick host of Gregoire fundraiser
MILL CREEK — A fundraising reception for Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire is set for July 29 at the home of Democratic Snohomish County Sheriff John Lovick.
Playing host to the event with Lovick are Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney Janice Ellis and former County Clerk Pam Daniels, also Democrats.
The menu will include Cajun deep-fried turkey prepared by Lovick.
The event starts at 5:30 p.m. at 2403 157th Place SE in Mill Creek. Tickets range in price from $100 to $1,000.

Forum to discuss open government
OAK HARBOR — A forum on state laws on disclosure of public records and efforts to expand some rules and roll back others is set for July 30.
The Washington Coalition for Open Government plans a panel of expert presenters on securing and preserving the public’s legal right to access the records and ensure open meetings of government agencies.
Panelists scheduled to attend include Tim Ford, assistant state attorney general;
Graham Johnson, former executive director of the Washington Public Disclosure Commission; Toby Nixon, former state representative and president of the coalition; and Paul Schmidt, Oak Harbor city administrator.
Rep. Barbara Bailey, R-Oak Harbor, will serve as moderator.
