EVERETT – U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., will hold campaign events today dealing with energy policy and fundraising.
At 12:45 p.m., she will arrive in a biodiesel-fueled Jeep at the Everett Shipyard, 1016 14th St. There she is expected to discuss her legislative work in environmental and alternative energy issues.
At 5:30 p.m., Cantwell will hold a fundraiser in the Everett Events Center. Tickets range from $50 to $500 for the event.
Cantwell, who defeated incumbent Republican Sen. Slade Gorton in 2000, is seeking re-election to a second six-year term.
She is expected to easily defeat four opponents in the Democratic primary and face Republican Mike McGavick, Gorton’s former campaign manager and chief of staff, in the general election this fall.
