TULALIP – Snohomish County Democrats will hold their annual summer picnic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Tulalip Amphitheater.
U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell and U.S. Reps. Rick Larsen and Jay Inslee are scheduled to speak to party activists during the event, which is being dubbed “Freedom Sunday.”
Donations of $10 are requested for a meal of hamburgers, meatless burgers or salmon and an assortment of other dishes.
The Patriot Act, a local band, will perform. Many other elected officials and candidates are expected to attend.

EVERETT – A local law firm will hold a reception Monday for Washington Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerry Alexander.
Alexander is running for re-election. His opponent is attorney John Groen.
The event for Alexander is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. at the offices of O’Loane, Nunn, Guthrie and O’Loane, 2707 Colby Ave., Suite 1204, Everett. Snohomish County clerk Pam Daniels is also a host for the gathering.
