Sen. Darlene Fairley, D-Lake Forest Park, has been selected as chairwoman of the state’s Caseload Forecast Council.
The council forecasts caseloads for entitlement programs. and the forecasts are used in budgeting. Examples include basic education, nursing homes, foster care, special education and juvenile inmates.
The council works with the Legislature’s Ways and Means and Appropriations committees to ensure that budget proposals are based on accurate data.
Fairley has been a member of the council since 2003 and was selected as chairwoman by the other members. The council is made up of state legislators and officials.
Fairley’s 32nd District includes Lake Forest Park and parts of Edmonds, Shoreline and Kenmore.
