Diane Buckshnis, a former banker and banking regulator, is running for Position 2 on the Edmonds City Council.
The position is currently held by Strom Peterson, who was appointed earlier this year to fill the vacancy left by Deanna Dawson. Peterson is running for re-election.
Buckshnis helped create the city’s off-leash dog park and is a member of Sustainable Edmonds.
She is opposed to taller buildings in downtown Edmonds and supports keeping waterfront and retail districts traditional, according to a statement.
