PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police have evicted nearly a dozen squatters who had been living in a two-story home they thought was owned by Bank of America.
But the North Portland home belongs to Gloria Canson, a 66-year-old schoolteacher who was behind on her payments but wanted to sell the place.
The Oregonian reported that the squatters are members of Occupy Portland, and they had been living in the home rent free since September before they were forced to leave Friday.
The protesters had started receiving mail at the address, signed up for Internet and one of them put the water bill in his name.
