EDMONDS — A section of Highway 99 in Edmonds was shut down Saturday afternoon after reports of an explosion, according to police.
Authorities believe it was a pop bottle bomb, a crude device made from a pop bottle and other commonly found household items. No injuries were reported.
Highway 99 between 234th Street SW and 238th was closed off while Edmonds officers and Washington State Patrol troopers investigated. Police were searching the area for any other potentially dangerous devices.
An Edmonds man has been identified as a suspect and has been interviewed, according to police. No arrests were immediately made.
