EVERETT — A power outage Thursday morning might have led to a car crash that sent one driver to the hospital.
The Everett Police Department reported the collision around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Fourth Avenue West and Evergreen Way. Everett Police officer Aaron Snell said it appeared the driver of a Toyota Prius ran through a non-functioning stoplight and collided with a small van. The Prius driver was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with non-life-threatening injuries, Snell said.
An earlier power outage affected about 6,200 Snohomish County PUD customers, spokesman Neil Neroutsos said. It was caused by an animal coming contact with equipment. By 9:30 a.m., power was restored.
When power is out, intersections with dysfunctional traffic signals should be treated as a four-way stop, Snell said.
