EVERETT — An estimated 50,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled into Port Gardner in Everett early Friday morning.
Power surges near a lift station at Pigeon Creek around 3 a.m. caused the station to stop pumping sewage for about one hour. City crews were able to return the station to normal operation at approximately 4 a.m.
City staff are taking water quality samples in the area and posting signs to inform people in the area of the recent spill. The city has made the necessary notifications to the state Department of Ecology, Snohomish County Health and the state Department of Health.
