Army Sgt. Derek Frymire is serving in Iraq with the 4th Stryker Brigade out of Fort Lewis. This is second deployment to Iraq. His wife is Phomaly and his 3-year-old son is Landon. His parents are Michael and Rebecca Frymire of Monroe.

Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Roderick A. Schwald is serving in Afghanistan. Schwald, a first sergeant with 24 years of military service, is normally assigned to the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. He is the son of Mickey Schwald of Mountlake Terrace, and Bob Schwald of Bothell. His sister Janet Regan lives in Everett.

Army Pfc. Ryan Beckmann has graduated from One Station Unit Training at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of basic military training and advanced individual training. Beckmann is the son of Craig and stepson of Kathleen Beckmann of Snohomish. He is a 2007 graduate of Henry M. Jackson High School, Mill Creek.

Navy Ensign Travis B. Thomas, whose wife, Diane, is the daughter of Len and Perry Fernandez of Oak Harbor, recently reported for Naval aviator training at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas.

Aaron J. Streitenberger has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. The cadet is a student at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell. He is the son of Jimmy Streitenberger of Edmonds and Denise Winkler of Issaquah. Streitenberger is a 2008 graduate of Issaquah High School.

The USS Ford is scheduled to return to Everett on Tuesday after a six-month deployment to the eastern Pacific Ocean. The Oliver Hazard Perry class guided-missile frigate participated in multinational exercise team work. The USS Ford, along with a dozen ships from Chile, Brazil, France, the United Kingdom and other U.S. ships performed combined naval operations and training events. The crew also visited Mejillones, Chile.
