LYNNWOOD — Drivers should expect overnight lane closures on southbound I-5 at 196th Street SW through Thursday.
Tonight, one lane is scheduled to close at 9 p.m. On Wednesday and Thursday, lanes will start shutting down around 8 p.m. As many as three lanes could be shut down, and traffic will be routed through the one or two remaining open lanes. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following day.
Crews are working on a safety project at the interchange. Workers are removing existing barriers and sidewalks and building work platforms on the 196th Street SW bridge. The state Department of Transportation and the city of Lynnwood are improving safety for pedestrians and bicyclists at the interchange by building a separate pedestrian walkway.
More information about the project is available at www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/Snohomish/Construction.
