Propane truck found in Everett after terror alert

EVERETT – A propane truck stolen from east King County was found Tuesday morning in Everett behind a car rental company.

The truck, loaded with 2,500 gallons of propane, was reported stolen about 3 a.m. from Suburban Propane, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said.

A statewide terrorist alert was issued and police around the area were asked to look for the truck.

Employees at the rental business in the 6400 block of Rainier Avenue recognized the truck from news broadcast about 8 a.m. and called police.

“There was no sign it was taken for anything but a ride,” Bryant said.

No one has been arrested in connection with the theft. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 425-257-8450.

Police chase ends when suspect crashes car

A police chase ended early Tuesday after the suspect crashed into a traffic light pole.

The pursuit started about 1 a.m. in the 13000 block of Highway 99 after a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the driver for reckless driving, sheriff’s deputy Rich Niebusch said.

The chase moved north until the car crashed into a pole and caught fire at Evergreen Way and Highway 526. The driver and passenger were armed with guns, Niebusch said. One of the guns had been reported stolen.

The men, 21 and 22, suffered minor injuries. They were treated and later arrested by police.

Everett police arrest alleged carjacker

A man is behind bars on suspicion of carjacking a vehicle near a north Seattle shopping center and driving to Everett before he was caught, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.

A man in his 30s reportedly carjacked a car about 8 p.m. near the Northgate shopping center and drove north on I-5. When he reached Everett, he reportedly struck two vehicles on the freeway before spinning out in a construction zone near the 41st Street SE overpass, Leary said.

The carjacker allegedly tried to steal another car from the line of stop-and-go traffic, but the driver fended him off.

Police arrested a man near the construction area about 9 a.m. and took him to Providence Everett Medical Center Colby Campus for a medical evaluation, Leary said.

Marysville: Man arrested after brawl

A 22-year-old Arlington man was arrested in connection with a brawl that occurred outside a lounge in Marysville early Saturday morning.

Police arrived at the lounge in the 10000 block of Schoultes Road to find up to 40 people fighting in the parking lot. Several had armed themselves with poles and wooden sticks, police said.

A 21-year-old Lake Stevens man who was on the ground bleeding and unconscious was treated for injuries at a nearby hospital.

The Arlington man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault. Four other men from Island and Snohomish Counties were cited for disorderly conduct and released, police said.

Snohomish: Paramedic service to be dropped

Fire officials in Snohomish announced Tuesday that paramedics will no longer be available come January.

The district plans to drop its contract with the Fire District 3 in Monroe, which has been providing paramedic services to residents in the Snohomish area.

The change means patients in Snohomish with critical conditions will be taken to the hospital by emergency medical technicians who do not have advanced life support training, Fire Chief Mark Collins said.

A meeting to discuss the change is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the fire district’s headquarters, 1525 Ave. D, Snohomish.

The district does not have a tax levy to support paramedic services. Fire officials have made cuts to the district’s budget but can no longer afford the contract with Monroe.

“Citizens of Fire District 4 should not expect other fire districts to subsidize us by deploying their resources to meet the needs of our district,” fire board commissioner Mark Hintz.

Paramedics have advanced medical training and can administer drugs while treating patients.
