Two Lynnwood men were charged with assault and the crime of drive-by shooting after they allegedly peppered a Lynnwood apartment with bullets on Oct. 11.
Unrequited love provided the motive for the gunplay, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Mark Roe alleged in Superior Court papers.
Jacob Calvin Morical, 18, was angry because he’d been dumped by a girlfriend and he convinced David John Coleman, also 18, to drive him past her home so he could fire bullets from a 9mm assault carbine, Roe alleged.
Morical emptied a 10-round magazine at her home, according to court papers.
Nobody was hit by the bullets, but "most of he shots hit the Lynnwood apartment of the woman who, less than two hours earlier, had been the target of Morical’s affections," Roe alleged.
The shooters were spotted by people inside the apartment and soon tracked down by police. Both acknowledged their involvement, Roe alleged.
Each man is now charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of drive-by shooting, all felonies. They’ve been jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
