EVERETT — A man who wanted to become a Snohomish County reserve sheriff’s deputy is now being sought on two counts of possessing child pornography.
A $10,000 arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for 23-year-old David Linzy Trowbridge of Stanwood after he failed to appear in court for arraignment, deputy prosecutor Mark Roe said.
Trowbridge was enrolled in the sheriff’s reserve academy. He was required to take a lie detector test in January as a part of the curriculum. The polygraph test results put detectives on Trowbridge’s trail, court papers said.
After taking the examination, he admitted accessing Web sites that deal in child pornography, court papers said. He allegedly claimed that he downloaded images so he could turn the information over to police.
However, he also told detectives he never showed police what he found because he hadn’t figured out where he should report it, papers said. He also told detectives he had thrown the disc containing the pornography away, but later admitted he hadn’t.
After getting a search warrant for his computer, detectives found "literally hundreds" of images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct with adults, papers said.
In addition, officers found that the defendant has been searching the Web for information on "how to beat the polygraph," documents said.
Monroe
Deal struck: The city of Monroe has reached an agreement with former police chief Colleen Wilson, pending approval of the city council.
Wilson, who was asked by Mayor Donnetta Walser to step down last month, declined to discuss the agreement, except to say that mediation had ended. She also would not say whether she will rejoin the police department.
Wilson has been on paid administrative leave since April 2. She has said that she’d like to return to the department as a lieutenant. But the mayor has said she believes it would be best if Wilson did not come back.
Walser declined to comment Thursday.

Crash jams traffic: A motorcycle crash early Thursday on I-5 southbound closed one lane for more than an hour and backed up rush-hour traffic.
Danny Joe Shiner, 62, was listed in serious condition with head and chest injuries at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was taken after the crash.
Shiner was southbound at the 128th Street SW onramp passing vehicles at a high rate of speed shortly after 6 a.m., according to the Washington State Patrol. Shiner was unable to stop for traffic and laid the motorcycle on its side, the patrol said.
Girl robbed: A 16-year-old girl was beaten and robbed of $20 Thursday night, Everett police said.
The girl was robbed in the 800 block of Pine Street, and an 18-year-old man was arrested by police in connection with the incident, said Lt. Butch Braley. The girl declined medical assistance at the scene, Braley said.
The robbery was reported at 7:58 p.m.
