MUKILTEO – Repair work to Ivar’s Restaurant on the waterfront will mean periodic closures of the nearby public access dock for the next 10 days, Port of Everett officials said Tuesday.
The dock, owned by the port, is a popular spot for anglers, crabbers and people who want a waterfront view. It’s adjacent to the Mukilteo ferry dock and in front of Ivar’s.
The dock’s walkway will be closed off and on to allow workers to repair the severe damage caused during a storm last fall. The dock is expected to be open without interruption by July 9.
House fire linked to electrical problem
An electrical problem in the kitchen likely caused a fire Tuesday at a house in the 5100 block of 92nd Street.
Two people were home when the fire broke out just before noon. The couple was outside when firefighters arrived about six minutes later, Mukilteo Fire Chief Jack Colbath said. Damage was estimated at up to $170,000, he said.
A second house fire in Mukilteo started just after 5:30 p.m. in the roof, apparently by fireworks, in the 8800 block of 47th Place W. Fireworks are banned in the city of Mukilteo.
