Snohomish: Holiday market in full swing
The Snohomish Holiday Market is giving families a chance to shop locally during this Christmas season.
Vendors are selling pottery, glass art, paintings, stuffed animals, clothing for pets and more at the 6,000-square-foot market, located in the historic district at 1234 First St.
Special activities at the market include a holiday parlour tour on Sunday and a winter solstice walk on Dec. 21.
The market is open Thursdays through Sundays until Dec. 27, with varying hours of operation.
It’s closed on Christmas.

Arlington: Disability group needs directors
Village Community Services needs volunteers with expertise in finance, manufacturing or special education to sit on its board of directors.
The nonprofit agency is looking for volunteers who passionately believe in the rights, talents and potential of people with disabilities.
The board meets the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Doctor to talk about the future of medicine
Life-changing advances in personalized preventive medicine could be less than 10 years away thanks to new techniques and technologies, according to Dr. Leroy Hood, co-founder and president of the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle.
On Thursday, Hood will discuss the future of medicine at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, located at Arlington High School, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.
This free presentation is sponsored by the medical staff of Cascade Valley Hospital.
The lecture is open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m.

Lake Stevens: Pet license discussion
The Lake Stevens City Council will hold a workshop tonight to discuss whether people living in newly annexed areas of the city can have up to 60 days to register their dogs and cats with the city.
If adopted, it would require all dogs and cats to be licensed within 60 days.
The workshop will begin at 7 p.m. at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Services Center’s administration building, 12309 22nd St.
