BELLEVUE — Puget Sound Energy says it has received approval from federal regulators to make improvements to the 111-year-old hydroelectric project at Snoqualmie Falls.
The Bellevue-based utility says the powerhouse improvements will increase the electrical output without using more water. Puget also plans to improve the park and trail at the falls that attract two million visitors a year.
The utility estimates it will cost $250 million to redevelop the project it has a federal license to operate another 35 years.
